More than 200 guests from Miami’s hospitality industry attended the event and learned the strategies and benefits of becoming eco-friendly and how commitment to the local community is the most important factor of being sustainable, according to Mr. Houdré.
Following the presentation, Nancy Loman Scanlon, Associate Professor, Florida International University’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, moderated a Q & A session between Mr. Houdré, Robert Hill, General Manager, InterContinental Miami, and the audience. Miami-based and LEED certified EasyGrass®, which provides top quality artificial grass products and installation, sponsored this year’s luncheon.
Hervé Houdré was named “2006 Independent Hotelier of the World” by HOTELS magazine. He serves on the NY Hotel Association Executive Committee and Board of Directors and NYC & Company Board as well as on the Board of GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council). A leader in Sustainable Hospitality, Houdré published Sustainable Hospitality©, a white paper utilized by Cornell University’s Center for Hospitality Research.
The Greater Miami & The Beaches Hotel Association’s Sustainable Hospitality Council was created to advance the awareness and adoption of sustainable practices by providing guidance, expertise and resources to Association members.
