Piedmont Distillers, a craft distillery in the little town of Madison, NC, is considered a leader of the current moonshine and artisan distilling movement. Its reputation is one of creating authentic, superior quality, handcrafted spirits. Piedmont Distillers’ spirits are handcrafted in small batches, distilled from corn and triple-distilled. Piedmont Distillers is committed to preserving the moonshining legacy and distilling traditions that have made North Carolina the “Moonshine Capital of the World.” Coupling these traditions with one-of-a-kind recipes and a state-of-the-art distillation process has enabled Piedmont Distillers’ spirits to transcend moonshine from the backwoods, to be amongst the finest spirits available anywhere. Junior Johnson is a legendary moonshiner from North Carolina, who brought his family recipe to Piedmont Distillers in 2007. The Johnson family’s moonshine is considered to be the best. Junior grew-up tending to the family’s stills during the day and bootlegging ‘shine at night. Johnson’s incredible driving skills enabled him to stay two steps ahead of the revenuers. While never caught delivering his moonshine, Johnson was eventually arrested while firing up the family still. He served 11 months of a two-year sentence and then later received a presidential pardon from Ronald Reagan for his 1956 moonshining conviction. Junior used the racing and car building knowledge he acquired while bootlegging to become one of the most successful drivers and owners in racing history, culminating with his induction into the 2010 inaugural class of the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Johnson was the subject of Tom Wolfe’s famous essay for Esquire magazine in 1965 titled, “The Last American Hero is Junior Johnson. Yes!”
Junior Johnson’s legendary North Carolina moonshine Midnight Moon and Catdaddy Spiced Moonshine will roll into New Orleans on July 25 – 29, 2012, to celebrate its fifth year at the Tales of the Cocktail®, the world’s premier cocktail festival. Midnight Moon follows the Johnson family’s generations-old, small batch recipe that is triple distilled to craft a smooth, clean-tasting spirit and authentically infused in Mason jars with whole pieces of gourmet fruit. Although people perceive notes or hints of cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg, only the Founder and Master Distiller know the exact recipe of Catdaddy Spiced Moonshine. Catdaddy’s all natural ingredients are blended with a handcrafted spirit that is made from corn in small batches and triple-distilled to achieve an ultra-smooth finish and it is the only spiced moonshine on the market.

Nutritional supplements prove better than toxic drugs
by Jonathan Landsman
(NaturalNews) Do you know anyone that believes in poisoning the body to “get well”? The sad truth is that most ill-informed people think that un-natural medicine is the only way to solve health problems. By brainwashing doctors (in medical school); controlling politicians (with lobbying efforts) and “social conditioning” (through T.V. ads) – the pharmaceutical drug cartel has created a system of sick care that profits shareholders and promotes dis-ease. (“insider” proof below – keep reading)
Marcia Angell, M.D., the first female editor of The New England Journal of Medicine, once said this about the pharmaceutical industry:
“Once upon a time…Drug companies promoted drugs to treat disease. Now it is often just the opposite, they promote disease to fit their drugs.”
Don’t become a victim of conventional (narrow-minded) medicine. The medical literature is filled with highly-effective, natural ways to prevent – even treat – disease without harmful side effects. The next NaturalNews Talk Hour will reveal specific examples about how nutritional supplements are BETTER than toxic drugs!

The reason why modern “healthcare” is broken
Dr. Angell, says it all about how controlling (and corrupt) the pharmaceutical industry has become. Remember, Dr. Angell worked as the editor of the New England Journal of Medicine for over 20 years! In other words – she knows how the system works…
“This industry uses its wealth and power to co-op every institution that might stand in its way, including the U.S. Congress, the Food and Drug Administration, Academic Medical Centers, and the medical profession itself.” – Marcia Angell
Eliminating disease is easier than you think
Clearly, natural medicine provides a better way to prevent, even reverse many of the illnesses we experience today, such as, migraines, high blood pressure, arthritis, obesity – the list goes on and on. Avoiding processed foods with harmful ingredients, detoxifying the body (naturally) of unwanted chemicals and supplementing your diet with food-based vitamins and minerals will dramatically reduce your dependency on drugs and the “modern” sick care system.
In the United States alone, over-the-counter and prescription drugs are the 4th leading cause of death and some would argue it’s even worse. When was the last time you heard about a friend or family member getting hurt by taking Vitamin D to boost immunity or essential fatty acids for a healthy heart and brain? For best results – always take a natural approach.

He has personally collected over 70,000 articles from the scientific literature which provide strong evidence on the effectiveness of diet, vitamins, minerals, herbs, and other natural measures in the maintenance of health and the treatment of disease.

GlaxoSmithKline admits to criminal pharma fraud in 3 billion dollar case
by D Holt
(NaturalNews) British registered company, GlaxoSmithKline, faces $3 billion in penalties after pleading guilty to the biggest health care fraud case in history. GSK admitted that physicians had been bribed to push potentially dangerous drugs in exchange for Madonna tickets, Hawaiian holidays, cash and lucrative speaking tours. They also admitted distributing misleading information regarding the antidepressant Paxil. The report claimed that it was suitable for children, but failed to acknowledge data from studies proving its ineffectiveness in children and adolescents.
GSK faced charges that they had used the gifts to sell three drugs that were either unsafe, or used for purposes that were not approved. The first drug, Paxil also known as Seroxat, was touted as safe and effective for children and adolescents. The ineffectiveness of Paxil, and the link to suicides, meant that it was banned for kids under 18-years-olds in 2008.
The second drug, Avandia was used in Britain to treat diabetes until it was withdrawn due to safety fears, including increased risk of heart attacks. The US government claimed that GSK had attempted to conceal the data surrounding the dangers.
The third drug, Wellbrutin is used in the UK for treating depression, but it was alleged that GSK had recommended physicians used it for ADHD, lost libido and as a slimming aid. None of which were approved uses for the drug.
The moral code of Big Pharma companies exposed
Sir Andrew Witty, chief executive of GSK said “Whilst these offenses originate in a different era for the company, they cannot and will not be ignored. On behalf of GSK, I want to express our regret and reiterate that we have learned from the mistakes that were made. We are deeply committed to doing everything we can to live up to and exceed the expectations of those we work with and serve. In the US, we have taken action at all levels in the company. We have fundamentally changed our procedures for compliance, marketing and selling.”
US attorney for Massachusetts, Carmen Ortiz said: “The GSK sales force bribed physicians to prescribe GSK products using every imaginable form of high priced entertainment, from Hawaiian vacations to paying doctors millions of dollars to go on speaking tours, to a European pheasant hunt, to tickets to Madonna concerts.”
This is the biggest settlement in the history of drug industries, ahead of the 2009 Pfizer case in which it was fined $2.2 billion for promoting four drugs for unapproved uses. In 2010, GSK paid $96 million to a whistle-blower who exposed contamination problems and a management cover up in Puerto Rico.
The practice of pushing drugs for unapproved uses is endemic within the drug industries. Two of the largest drug companies have been caught and fined huge amounts for chasing sales targets using any means necessary. It proves that the health of customers, even children, ranks lower on the companies’ agenda than profit. Using bribes to get doctors to prescribe drugs shows a complete lack of moral fiber from both sales teams and the doctors. After this case, surely the doctors also need to face the courts for their conduct.
Whilst the amounts of money seem to be a huge punishment for GSK, the settlement is merely a slap on the wrist for a company whose market value is $133 billion. Can we trust another multinational that promises to clean up its act, when others have promised the same, only to behave just as recklessly but much more surreptitiously.
